A 90-Minute Celebration
“Ken Dodd – The Lost Tapes” spans a gloriously successful seven-decade career, featuring a treasure trove of clips—many of which have not been seen on television for half a century or more.
To make this special even more poignant, Anne, Lady Dodd guides us through the laughter. She watches and enjoys the clips right along with the audience, offering her personal memories of those shows and unique insights into Ken’s legendary performances.
What’s in the Show?
The programme digs deep into the archives to bring you a mix of Ken’s very best TV appearances.
Highlights include:
• The 1965 BBC Christmas Day Special: Airing four years before Morecambe and Wise’s first Xmas Day show!
• Joking with The Beatles: Rare footage from 1963.
• The Good Old Days: A classic clip from 50 years ago.
• Michael Parkinson: A memorable interview from 1981.
• An Audience with Ken Dodd: Never-before-seen material that was cut from the original ITV transmission.
The “Lost” Live Experience
In addition to the TV archives, the programme features selected highlights from the new Ken Dodd Happiness Show DVD.
These clips were created from “Lost Tapes” recorded at several theatres specifically for Ken’s private use. They had been gathering dust for over 30 years and offer a rare glimpse into his live genius. If you never had the chance to see him live on stage, this is your opportunity to relish his full-throttle performance for yourself.
Don’t forget: If you enjoy the programme, there is even more footage available on the new DVD!
