Who Are We ?
The Ken Dodd Charitable Foundation was created in 2013 to support performing arts charities and organisations.
Our Mission is to help children and young people to pursue their creative passions – whilst spreading laughter and happiness!
We continue Sir Ken’s legacy by funding projects in three tattyfilarious areas:
Health, Doddy knew laughter is the best medicine and that;
“a chuckle a day keeps the doctor away!”
Happiness, Doddy’s key to a good life,
and Performing Arts, the craft mastered by the Squire of Knotty Ash, who was still performing live at 90.
Sir Ken’s widow, Anne, Lady Dodd is head of the charitable foundation.
Sir Ken’s nephew, John Lewis MBE, has taken Sir Ken’s place as Trustee in the charitable foundation.

How Doddy Keeps On Giving
To Promote Health
In 2022, The Ken Dodd Foundation donated a brand new all-weather sports pitch to Knotty Ash Primary School.
The donation helps the kids to exercise outdoors all year round – perfect for stretching those chuckle muscles!
To Spread Happiness
The Ken Dodd Charitable Foundation is proud to donate to the Merseyside Adventure Sailing Trust. MAST provides incredible adventure experiences on tall ships to young people from across the UK!
From climbing the rigging to shivering your timbers, MAST will have you singing like a sailor in no time!

To Celebrate Performing Arts
In July 2022, Lady Dodd opened the new Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden in Prescot’s Shakespeare North Playhouse.The space celebrates the performing arts across eras—from Shakespearean classics and Doddy-style live variety to recent creations from new generations.
